I talk a lot about food and diet. That’s probably not a surprise since my background is in nutrition. But the reality that your spiritual health needs nourishment too. Which is why I want to talk about amazing spiritual health and healing documentaries on Netflix.
Quite a few terrific inspirational documentaries are making the rounds on Netflix. If you can do a Netflix binge day with the best of them, you may have already seen these. But if you haven’t, it’s time to schedule a documentary day stat.
These spiritual health and healing documentaries will surely uplift your day. And you never know. They may change the course of your life. Or at least give you a push in the right direction.
So, ready to feel inspired? Here are some of my favorite documentaries for spiritual health and healing.
Heal
Heal is an amazing documentary by Kelly Noonan Gores. It’s one of those rare gems that delves deep into how your thoughts and feeling can impact your health and wellness. And it discusses how to actively heal the hurt and negative emotions that could be keeping you from vibrant health.
It features interviews from some big names in the health and wellness field. Think Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Michael Beckwith and more. And these experts give their expertise on the spiritual component to the body’s incredible ability to self-heal.
One especially inspiring story is that of Anita Moorjani. She had cancer throughout her body, was in a coma, and was given just hours to live. In her coma, she visited with her father and finally found forgiveness over their broken relationship. And by releasing her pain, she entered a place of overwhelming love.
Quickly after she hit this place of love, she awoke from her coma. However, the feeling of love didn’t disappear. Her recovery amazed her doctors. But it’s what happened next that was truly amazing.
Her tumors started to melt away. And by the time she left the hospital, she no longer had any traceable cancer. As she’s moved forward in her life from a place of forgiving love, she went from having terminal cancer to living in remission.
While this documentary emphasizes the amazing power of spiritual health and healing, it acknowledges it isn’t a cure-all for everyone. But it’s an amazingly important piece of our health puzzle. And we’re doing ourselves a disservice if we ignore our spiritual needs on our path towards a long healthy life.

Brene Brown: The Call to Courage
I’ll admit that while I’d heard of Brene Brown and had read one of her books, I really didn’t know that much about her. I’d never seen any of her Ted Talks. I never ventured beyond my one book. And I didn’t know that while she is deeply wise, she is so down to earth, real, and relatable.
Brene Brown has spent her life researching shame and vulnerability. And through a Ted Talk-like format, this documentary gets you thinking about what the word courage means to you. And about the uncomfortable state you must reach before you have a chance of living a life of courage.
Using stories from her own experience and family, Ms. Brown talks about wading through the sticky and uncomfortable times in her work and relationships. She discusses how she survived great moments of shame and feeling stuck. And how she came to the other side of her own struggles.
Call to Courage will forever change the way you look at the words vulnerability and courage. You will see that being brave is probably scarier than you imagined. But that getting to the other side of that fear is the only way to live you most joyful and spiritually fulfilled life.
It dropped on Netflix pretty recently. And if you haven’t seen it yet, now’s the time. It’s only an hour and a half. And I dare you to watch it and not feel like it will have a lasting life impact.
Happy
This documentary goes back a little. While it was released in 2012, many of the interviews are older than that. There’s even a scene where a principal, talking with middle school students, mentions the lure of Myspace. Talk about vintage!
But if you haven’t seen this one, it’s time to give it a watch. This is a story of finding happiness. And how the path to happiness might be quite different than you imagine. In fact, statistics show that much of what we think of as the route to happiness make little difference in our true joy.
For instance, research shows that if you make enough money to meet your basics needs, being rich will not make a big difference in your overall happiness. People who make $50,000 a year and people who make $500,000 report the same levels of happiness. More money will only make you happier if you’re living in poverty.
However, there are things that make a significant difference in your happiness. But they’re not at all what you would think. Happy examines different cultures throughout the world. And it finds the underlying seeds of happiness. And helps you understand how you can apply these to your own life.
If you feel like you’re not living your best life, this is a must-see documentary. It helps you re-evaluate how you create joy. And makes you see that the path to happiness may be simpler and more attainable than you think.
Have you seen these documentaries about spiritual health and healing? Do you have another documentary that’s been life changing to you? We’re probably all watching more TV these days than we should. So why not use our TV time for some soulful inspiration?

Thanks for rounding those up, I don’t have Netflix, but I’ll keep my eye out for them through other sources. We have to be well-rounded, don’t we?

I think the film Heal is available on YouTube. So there’s that!

Nope! I wanted to distribute it through my YouTube channel (ads free) because it changed my life. I ‘ve been living with a seriously debilitating disease which has affected my central nervous system and suddenly, out of the blue, I found myself having to depend on others for my survival. I had hysterical crisis, total desperation and while contemplating suicide, I suddenly found Heal. I knew many of the things they talked about but such topics had never been presented by doctors and scientists before. I thought everyone should see it but it got instantly removed by YouTube for copyright infringement. It’s a life saver with real people sharing their spontaneous healing. You can borrow the torrent from the open source community if you, like me, haven’t got anything else left.
